Using inkjet coating technology, an ingenious application of photosensitive materials, Canon has succeeded in separating ink deposit layers by function. Where previously only one inkjet coating layer was formed, this technology creates two distinct layers, the color-reproduction layer and the absorbing layer. Blacker Blacks A deep, rich black is a black that looks truly black to the eye, not grayish or bluish. Rich, deep blacks are not only important for reproducing deep-black areas of photos. They also contribute to the overall density, contrast and clarity of the photo. Light, grayish blacks weaken the photo's impact, making it ordinary and unimpressive. With Photo Paper Plus Glossy II PP-201, the dye is fixed closer to the surface of the paper, ensuring rich, deep blacks in printed photos.Photos are beautifully reproduced because the dye is fixed close to the surface of the paper. The ink-receiving layer accepts the dyes in the ink and places them on the surface of the paper. If this layer is too thick, the dyes are scattered too sparsely, reducing color density and producing washed-out, dull colors. If it is too thin, the water in the ink can overflow the paper's surface, causing beading and bleeding.The newly added color-reproduction layer fixes the dye to the paper's surface. Photo Paper Plus Glossy II PP-201 solves this dilemma using innovative inkjet coating technology. Using this technology, the ink-receiving layer is split into two layers, a color-reproduction layer on which the dye is fixed and an absorbing layer that soaks up the excess water solvent. This layered structure enables the dye to be fixed closer to the surface of the paper, improving the density of the black ink compared with Photo Paper Plus Glossy PP-101. This novel technology achieves rich, deep blacks and bright, vivid photographic results. At the same time, the absorbing layer quickly mops up excess water solvent, for crisp, sharp image quality. See the real colors of your photos, right away. With ordinary inkjet paper, the quality of the print fresh from the printer is bit unclear, the colors dull. The colors emerge only gradually, so you have to wait several minutes to find out whether the print is faithful to the original image's color, contrast and other features. If your family or friends are waiting for finished prints, or if you're testing corrections to the photos, the wait can seem an eternity. Photo Paper Plus Glossy II PP-201 is a completely different experience. The optical density (color density) is high immediately after printing, and color reproduction happens fast. In less time than ever, a reproduction of the colors of the original photo is complete. Images are bright and vivid as soon as the print job is finished. I recently purchased a I used to have to go to Costco or send them on line to their photo center to get back my pictures. Talking about time being wasted and having to wait so long to see your pictures. I received a Canon printer from my daughter as a gift and then started using these papers. I just inserted my SD card into the printer, I can immediately pick and choose which picture to print and in about five minutes I get a copy of all the pictures I just took, ready for my wife to enjoy and place them in the album. Most pictures we took and printed are those of our grandson, from when he was born to now he is about 15 months old. As soon as we took his pictures,we can see the final prints almost immediately. The funny thing is with Canon ink and Canon papers, the color of the final pictures are just so vivid and beautiful, many times they are better than those printed in Costco or by any photo centers. I once gave some of our grandson's pictures printed with this paper to my daughter and son-in-law, they thought I got them printed from a store. The quality is just that good. I had tried cheaper papers, like those made by HP or Fuji, forget about them, they look awful. The photos printed with this paper in a Canon printer with Canon ink, IMHO, is better than those that were printed with HP paper in an expensive HP color laser printer. I know because I had tried it both ways. This is also the most convenient size of paper and they are very easy to place in the printer. They are really 4x6 inches, unlike some of the Fuji 4x6" paper which is actually a bit long and I had to chop off the extra length of each picture, what nuisance. The only complaint is that these papers can be expensive but once a while Amazon had it on sales. I regret I did not buy a truckload of it when that happened last time. Also, the Canon ink is not cheap but if you would ignore the warning and keep using it until the color fades (on your pictures) before you will replace the different color ink cartridges,you will save a bundle. In short, you will not regret using this paper on a Canon or any color jet printers. How can you put a price on the instant enjoyment when you can print out any photos you have just taken, placing them in your photo album or give a copy to your loved ones or your friends to take home right away.? To me, that is simply priceless! I believe Amazon also has the best prices for them. I know because I probably had ordered many boxes of it from them.Print your pictures. Photographs don't belong on the screen of your phone. They are too small to see, the colors are off, and eventually, you will lose or upgrade your phone and those images will be gone. Do you have an actual camera? That's not where pictures belong either. You take them with the camera, you show them on-line, in a frame on the wall, or in a book. Put them on a computer, and then print them. On paper. Like this paper. Canon makes top shelf photo paper. You can print pictures on it. If you took good pictures, they will look great. You can make a big photo album of your best pictures with this paper. And another album with some 4x6 paper. That's good stuff too. One word of warning. If you print your pictures on the back of the paper, they won't look right and you will get ink all over everything. I'm not saying I've loaded my printer wrong, but, printer ink takes a while to come off your hands. It's messy stuff. If you do make that mistake, lay the ruined print on a flat surface, get a few pieces of regular printer paper, and carefully place the stack on top of the ruined print. Rub, without moving the paper. Lift it up carefully and you will have a strange and very imperfect copy of your original image. Also, you will get more ink on your hands. This is annoying, but now at least you have something unusual to show for it.Awesome paper, always recommend buying OEM paper for printing photos, I have had bad results with off-brands. Inks on the other hand are another story (see my other reviews). 20 sheets might not seem like a lot but you really don't print too many 8.5x11 inch pictures. Typical Canon quality, and the gloss is perfect. Once your picture is printed you cant tell the difference between store bought and home printed!Best value paper offered by Canon in my opinion. The paper is a little on the thin side but the output quality is excellent. Very close to the Pro Platinum in that respect. I will buy this for most of my Glossy printing projects with my Pro-100Great paper for decent quality home photos.
