About Canon: Originally based in Japan, Canon has grown to become one of the world's premier companies specializing in imaging and optical products, from high quality cameras, to photocopiers and computer printers. With their extensive product line and digital solutions, they continue to help businesses and consumers worldwide to capture, store, and distribute information. From the Manufacturer The new standard for Canon Photo Paper. The beautiful sheen of photographic prints using photo printing paper is so economical you can enjoy its luster and brilliant color anytime. Canon is proud to announce the arrival of Photo Paper Plus Glossy II PP-201, a photo paper that improves on Photo Paper Plus Glossy PP-101 to create a new standard in image quality and cost performance. Maintaining the luxurious feel of Photo Paper Plus Glossy PP-101 with better-than-ever color reproduction: Photo Paper Plus Glossy II PP-201. Using inkjet coating technology, an ingenious application of photosensitive materials, Canon has succeeded in separating ink deposit layers by function. Where previously only one inkjet coating layer was formed, this technology creates two distinct layers, the color-reproduction layer and the absorbing layer. Blacker Blacks A deep, rich black is a black that looks truly black to the eye, not grayish or bluish. Rich, deep blacks are not only important for reproducing deep-black areas of photos. They also contribute to the overall density, contrast and clarity of the photo. Light, grayish blacks weaken the photo's impact, making it ordinary and unimpressive. With Photo Paper Plus Glossy II PP-201, the dye is fixed closer to the surface of the paper, ensuring rich, deep blacks in printed photos.Photos are beautifully reproduced because the dye is fixed close to the surface of the paper. The ink-receiving layer accepts the dyes in the ink and places them on the surface of the paper. If this layer is too thick, the dyes are scattered too sparsely, reducing color density and producing washed-out, dull colors. If it is too thin, the water in the ink can overflow the paper's surface, causing beading and bleeding. The newly added color-reproduction layer fixes the dye to the paper's surface. Photo Paper Plus Glossy II PP-201 solves this dilemma using innovative inkjet coating technology. Using this technology, the ink-receiving layer is split into two layers, a color-reproduction layer on which the dye is fixed and an absorbing layer that soaks up the excess water solvent. This layered structure enables the dye to be fixed closer to the surface of the paper, improving the density of the black ink compared with Photo Paper Plus Glossy PP-101. This novel technology achieves rich, deep blacks and bright, vivid photographic results. At the same time, the absorbing layer quickly mops up excess water solvent, for crisp, sharp image quality. Fuller, more vibrant color reproduction. The wider the color gamut is, the more colors can be reproduced. Across the entire gamut in both CMY and RGB, Photo Paper Plus Glossy II PP-201 improves on the reproducible range of Photo Paper Plus Glossy PP-101. This photo paper relays the full expressive range of PIXMA for glorious color reproduction every time. Optical density immediately after printing is greater than ever. See the real colors of your photos, right away. With ordinary inkjet paper, the quality of the print fresh from the printer is bit unclear, the colors dull. The colors emerge only gradually, so you have to wait several minutes to find out whether the print is faithful to the original image's color, contrast and other features. If your family or friends are waiting for finished prints, or if you're testing corrections to the photos, the wait can seem an eternity. Photo Paper Plus Glossy II PP-201 is a completely different experience. The optical density (color density) is high immediately after printing, and color reproduction happens fast. In less time than ever, a reproduction of the colors of the original photo is complete. Images are bright and vivid as soon as the print job is finished. This photo paper works great with my new Canon Pixma Printer. I bought the printer for Christmas and a coworker had the same printer for a while now and recommended I get the Canon specific paper because he felt the colors looks better on that paper then the cheaper generic options. I happened to get lucky on the price of this paper because it was listed as an add-on item for amazon. That means if you buy 25 dollars in products you can add-on this item at a cheaper cost. I bought these with the 5x7 Canon Photo Paper Plus Semi-Gloss. These I feel are the better deal because you get 100 prints of 4x6 compared to 20 sheets of the 5x7 but they both look great.I find that something like this is a highly consumed item that does not expire so to get around buying something that is 25 dollars that I really don't want and adding this item on you can simply purchase enough quantity of this item to equal 25 dollars or more and get the discounted price. If you are one who prints a lot of photos that is the best option because you have enough paper and you know you spent less on it.The pictures I printed turned out great. They are high quality like you get from a professional photo developer. I know some other retailers (B&H Photo) have this product for the add-on price that I bought it for that amazon currently does not have it at so look around.***UPDATE***I wanted to inform people that the 4x6 photo paper in my Canon Pixma printer keeps getting one corner pinched about an 1/8th of an inch when printing causing a slight bend in the photo near one edge. I am not sure if this is the printer or the paper size because the 5x7 photo paper also from Canon does not suffer this bend. I will also note that the 4x6 seems to be curled slightly right out of the box along the middle of the 6" length where the 5x7 doesn't suffer the same curl. I am not sure if this is because the 5x7 is only 20 sheets which would not curl under the weight like the 100 sheet 4x6 may but that is my only idea that the slight curl in the paper may cause the printer to grab the paper at an angle causing the bent edge. Anyways I still like this photo paper a lot and bought more directly from canon when they were running a buy 1 get 4 free sale a few months back.A couple of years ago my roommate that used the rest of my photo paper was asked to replenish it for me. It was a HP high quality paper that had the most unique backing on it and the pictures turned out nice. One of the features that I really liked about that stock is you could write on the back without the imprint showing through on the picture. Since then my roommate has moved out and I ran out of the stock. I've been trying to find it again but when I came across this Canon Photo Paper Plus Glossy II and read the positive reviews about it I decided to give it a try.The photo paper arrived yesterday and immediately opened it up excited to see the quality of the stock. I was very disappointed and while the stock was nice, it just wasn't like the HP stock I had earlier. With not feeling like returning the product I decided to start printing some pictures from a recent family event - and WOW! I have a Canon MP240 printer and I am truly amazed at the quality of the photos!!! I was taken back and can't help but continue to look at them with amazement! It is like the quality of a photo development place right from my own printer! The only downside despite the great quality is that writing on the back will need to be used with something that will not make indentations on the front of the picture because the stock (while nice to the feel and touch and looks) is still thin. The best way to describe this stock is that is is rich, clean, of high quality despite being somewhat thin. I would have given a 3 or 4 star rating because of it but just couldn't get myself to do it because the quality is impressive.Over all I don't regret buying it!Prints on my tank printer. I have printed out over a total of 8000 prints now, most of them pictures.UPDATE A WEEK LATER: Took one star away. This paper curls bad, unless your putting it in a photo album or using a magnet in each corner it curls bad, and that's with no ink. Ink doesn't help it still curls. So I love the pic quality but my Epson Glossy paper is just as good if you don't mind a little gloss loss and I can use one magnet on my fridge to hold it up since it doesn't curl at all instead of four to keep the cannon paper flat. Don't understand why it curls without ink on it but the eight sheets or so I took out and laid flat the next day were all curled and I tried pressing them under other paper / a lot of paper for a few days and didn't help. But most people I'm guessing will scrapbook and glue them flat or put them in an album with slots so probably not a big big deal for most. This paper gives amazing prints, and is nice and shiny like real from the store photo's. Just watch out ink stays sticky for a couple of minutes so allow dry time. Wish the big paper of this brand was reasonably priced like the 4 x 6 is.My go to photo paper and always has worked well for me.I've been buying the Plus Glossy for many years and I have been very happy with the results I've got on my snapshots. At the time I went to reorder, I found the Plus Glossy II a little cheaper that the Plus Glossy, so I figure it was a good time to see if the Plus Glossy II was that much better than the Plus Glossy. I printed a couple of shots thru my IP6700 on both papers and I saw that both papers put out good photos, but the Glossy II appeared to be slightly better when compared side by side. When they were not side by side, I didn't see enough difference to justify spending any more money for the Glossy II (after all they're just snapshots). So I guess I'll just keep on buying the Glossy, unless when I reorder the Glossy II is the better value, then I will go for it. Thats IMHO.Good product and excellent price compared to elsewhere.Since my review the price has risen. So not so good value any longer.Quality paper for printing photosThe colour reproduction is closer to original digital image compared to other papers. The seller sells this paper at much high price. He has removed the MRP label. The canon website says the price is only 1/4th of amazon price. Thats pretty cheating by seller. But paper is worthy.I have bought this product numerous times so I was surprised by what I received.I believe the product was counterfeit because the packaging was very suspicious:- Canon paper usually comes in a cardboard box - this one did not- the packaging had no manufacturer or country of origin information on it- there was no product bar code- there were no instructions whatsoever- there was no warranty information- the quality of the printing on the cover sheet was very poor- the product I ordered was PP-201. This product was labelled PP-301.- the artwork on the cover sheet was different from the product I orderedFor these reasons I believe the product I received was counterfeit, so I returned it. I am pleased to report that I got a full refund with no hassle from Layger, but I did have to send them pictures. As a side note - after I sent the package back to Layger, I purchased a genuine version of the paper online from Canon Canada eStore and paid much less. Instead of the $52.58 CAD that Layger charged, I paid Canon eStore $28.73 CAD and the delivery was free. I imagine that the difference is partly because the former was shipped from the US while the Canon eStore shipped from within Canada. This is the only paper to use with your pixma photo printer.Paper gives great results for family and friends. Also to proof photos prior to making large prints.Make sure to feed it facing the right direction. The back has no markings to identify it as some others do.Overall colours are accurate and vibrant.Canon photo paper is the only paper I personally use.
